Heritage Program: Develops 3 interrelated projects that underscore the relevance of Blau House & Gardens as a community asset to be celebrated by Westport residents and members of the public as part of Westport’s rich arts legacy.
Project 1: History
A scholarly history never documented on Westport’s arts community legacy. Focuses on Westport’s Mid- 20th Century era of creativity and is Blau House & Gardens ‘raison d’étre.’ The unique synergies between artists and business leaders, Jews and Christians, cultural insiders and the new immigrants who transformed Westport from a small farming community into an “Avant Garde” cultural center. Blau House &Gardens’ contribution to this seminal moment and can inspire future generations.
Project 2: A Musical
The history will inform the script and score of a musical, “One night in Westport” by Matty Selman. The musical will be based on the memoirs of Barry Blau, “Letters to My Grandchildren”.
